So last night was the Sneaker Pimps show here in Vancouver. And as usual, we made our way out there to check it out…
For those who aren’t familiar with the show, Sneaker Pimps is the world’s largest touring sneaker show. Over the course of the year, they visit over 60 cities and features over 1,000 pairs of rare, vintage, custom and limited edition sneakers. It also showcases original artworks by world renowned artists like Futura, Stash, Dave White and Methamphibian just to name a few.
Being somewhat of a sneakerhead myself, it was definitely cool seeing all those kicks gathered in one place. I mean, I’ve been reading and hearing about all these collector sneakers over the years, so it was real nice to finally see them in person. On top of that, Futura and Stash put on a show by doing their live installations on stage. And if that wasn’t enough, Biz Markie came out and kicked it old school on the 1s and 2s. That cat played joints that were older than the majority of the people in that room, including myself. Even the bboys busted out their stuff. The atmosphere was just incredible!
I can sit here and write all about it, but its just not the same, you had to be there! So hopefully our video will do some justice. But last night’s show, combining the kicks, the art, the music, and the people, it was a true display of the sneaker culture. Damn I had a lot of fun…
